PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tolerance determination system, a tolerance determination method, program, and a recording medium which can determine simplified but adequate tolerance at analyzing tolerances of an optical system. SOLUTION: In the tolerance determination system, when a tolerance initial value for analysis is calculated simply at tolerance analysis of an optical system, a CPU 16 defines a contribution ratio as the product of error sensitivity and tolerance; calculates the contribution ratio under the condition that the contribution ratios of all design variables are equal, with an approximated assumption that performance deterioration ratio of the optical system is decided by the product of the contribution ratios which single design variables give to the optical performance; and decides simplified tolerance from the error sensitivity and the contribution ratio.
