PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an IFM device capable of instantaneously detecting effective frequency. SOLUTION: A frequency calculation circuit 4 sends out frequency data q1 of an input signal a, based on phase detection videos b1, b2 and outputs phase detection video amplitude signals d, corresponding to the amplitudes of the phase detection videos b1, b2. A leading edge detection circuit 5 outputs a strobe signal e when the phase detection video amplitude signal d exceeds a predetermined threshold and continues for a predetermined time. A frequency data effectiveness determining circuit 6 outputs the frequency data q1 as effective frequency data q2 of the input signal a, when the strobe signal e is output from the leading edge detection circuit 5.
