PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enclosed electric compressor using refrigerant gas of a high-pressure specification, ensuring pressure-tight performance required for a closed container, reducing a heat quantity for heating necessary for circumferential welding in assembling of the closed container and completing the circumferential welding in a relatively short time. SOLUTION: Constructional members of the closed container are locally reduced in wall thickness of the members by setting the shapes of portions to be circumferentially welded in a protuberant shape, a concave shape or a tapered shape and a molten metal sump is provided for temporarily staying molten metal. The cross-sectional areas of the constructional members of the closed container are thus partially decreased and heat is diffused through the constructional members of the closed container so that metal of the portions to be circumferentially welded is heated rapidly and the welding is started before temperature of the members excessively rises. The molten metal is temporarily stayed in the molten metal sump provided in the constructional members of the closed container and facilitates heating of unmelted portions of surrounding metal members, thereby enabling the circumferential welding to be completed in a short time with a small heat quantity.
