PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strontium salt of a sulfonic acid for preventing osteoarthritis, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The strontium salt of the sulfonic acid represented by the formula(I):A-B-SO<SB>3</SB>H[ wherein, A is a group selected from OH, NH<SB>2</SB>, SO<SB>3</SB>H or CO<SB>2</SB>H; and B is an arylene group or optionally, a substituted straight-chain or branched-chain 1-12C alkylene chain(optionally, one or more carbon atoms is(are) substituted with oxygen atom(s), nitrogen atom(s) or SO<SB>2</SB>group(s)) ] is provided.
