PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a defective image in a region having a low spatial frequency. SOLUTION: In a method of detecting a defective image, first edge processing is performed to an original image for acquiring an edge image. Expansion processing is performed to the edge image, and then an isolated point of not more than a prescribed size is detected in a processed image subjected to erosion processing.
