PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of avoiding the aggregation of toner with a simple constitution while suppressing the toner deterioration; and to provide a developing apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a rack 40 for storing the developing apparatuses 4Y, 4M, 4C and 4K. A toner stirring member 46 for stirring the toner is provided in the toner storing chamber of each developing apparatus stored in the rotary rack 40. Further, a gear 16 fixed to the rotating shaft 461 of the toner stirring member 46 is provided outside the developing apparatus. The gear 16 can be engaged with the gear part 12 of an operating member 11 fixed to the rotary rack 40. In the image forming apparatus, the gear 16 of the toner stirring member 46 is engaged with the gear part 12 of the operating member 11 during the rotating operation of the rotary rack 40, then, the toner stirring member 46 is rotated.
