PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper to be utilized as a steering damper which keeps a riding comfort good on a motorcycle or as a seat damper which keeps a seating comfort good on a steering seat in a small boat. SOLUTION: A piston body 3 having damping means 31a, 32a is arranged on the outer periphery of a rod body 2 inserted through a cylinder body 1 in a rising and setting manner while being slidably mounted in the cylinder body 1 for partitioning the cylinder body 1 into one oil chamber R1 and the other oil chamber R2 while allowing the communication of both oil chambers R1, R2 with each other. It consists of one split piston body 31 opposed at its end face to the oil chamber R1 while being movably mounted in the axial direction of the rod body 2 and the other split piston body 32 opposed at its end face to the oil chamber R2.
