PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the type of a light source at the time of imaging without specifying portions having the same material component by manual operation. SOLUTION: A spectral distribution holder 210 holds a spectral energy distribution of a light source which becomes a candidate light source as a mirror reflection component (specular component). A half-plane generator 220 finds out an angleθ(x, y) of a half-plane specified by the specular component of the assumed light source for each image data at the coordinates (x, y) of an inputted image, and then registers the angles in a half-plane list. A region size generator 230 groups other pixel data having the same angleθnear each pixel data, based on the half-plane list, and finds out an average size in each region divided by the grouping. A judging portion 240 determines whether the light source is the right one which is assumed based on the average region size by light source supplied from the half-plane generator 220.
