PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective agent for an allergic matter which can defend invasion of an allergic matter and also can improve the moisture retention of skin and hair. SOLUTION: The protective agent for an allergic matter comprises a polymer or a copolymer of a monomer containing a group similar to phosphorylcholine shown by general formula (1), wherein R<SP>1</SP>shows a 1-10C bivalent hydrocarbon radical of a straight or branched chain, R<SP>2</SP>shows a 1-4C bivalent hydrocarbon radical of a straight or branched chain, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>may be the same or different and show each a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C hydrocarbon radical of a straight or branched chain, and R<SP>6</SP>shows a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C hydrocarbon radical.
