PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of disinfecting treatment and to miniaturize an disinfecting device in the disinfecting device equipped with a disinfecting vessel 3 containing warm water and a cooling vessel 4 containing cold water arranged in series, and a means for intermittently transporting a cage 8 containing seeds along the disinfecting vessel 3 and the cooling vessel 4 one by one. SOLUTION: The number of the disinfecting vessel 3 is limited to one, and the length L of the disinfecting vessel along the transporting direction of the cage is regulated so as to be the length for transporting the cage in a state soaked in the disinfecting vessel for the time required for warm water disinfection of the seeds. The intermittently transporting means is constituted so that the cage is soaked in the disinfecting vessel at one terminal part and is taken up after being transported to the other terminal, and the taken up cage is soaked in the cooling vessel and thereafter taken up.
