<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely perform maintenance through a computer and to enable a manufacturer or an after-sales service agent to automatically support and control maintenance or an after-sales service process completely on a machine computer. <P>SOLUTION: A machine computer 9 of a printer 3 transmits data for requesting maintenance or an after-sales service to a management computer 5 through a public access network 4.
