The invention relates to a unit for removing a soil monolith from a lysimeter casing. Said unit is provided with a holding and receiving device (16) for the lysimeter casing (14) containing the soil monolith (12), and a driving device which acts on the soil monolith (12) and/or the lysimeter casing (14) for the continuous and/or gradual displacement of the soil monolith (12) out of the lysimeter casing (14). The invention also relates to a method for removing a soil monolith from a lysimeter casing. According to said method, a force is applied to the soil monolith (12) and/or the lysimeter casing (14), the soil monolith and the lysimeter casing then being displaced in relation to each other.
