摘要 <p>An object recognition device positions the location of a vehicle based on a travel track obtained by GPS, vehicle speed, steering angle, etc. and also positions the location of the vehicle based on the result of recognition of an object obtained using an image taken by a camera. Also, the device calculates the accuracy of positioning of the vehicle, which accuracy mostly deteriorates as the distance of movement of the vehicle increases. Positional data on that object on a road that is to be recognized by the vehicle is previously received in a map database. Then, that recognition range of a road for which the object is to be recognized is set based on the location of the vehicle positioned, the location of the object to be recognized, received in the map database, and the calculated positioning accuracy of the location of the vehicle. The object is recognized for the set recognition range by processing the image taken by the camera.</p>
