The component has a functional chamber (13) including a retaining plate (15) that limits an inner area of a commercial vehicle structure. A profile opening is introduced into the retaining plate for retaining a mounting unit for installation and/or for discharging circulating air in the inner area. The retaining plate is tightened by a connecting bar (18) between inner sides of the functional chamber in an area of the profile opening. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a component for a commercial vehicle structure.
