<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method capable of reducing a blurring phenomenon without decreasing brightness or contrast. <P>SOLUTION: A high range enhancing sub-frame is generated, for example, by a HPF (high pass filter) while a high range suppressing sub-frame is generated by a LPF (low pass filter) based on sub-frames by subjecting a frame to time division, and the generated high range enhancing sub-frames and the high range suppressing sub-frames are alternately displayed. By this configuration, blurring phenomenon can be decreased without decreasing brightness or contrast. That is, by displaying the high range suppressing sub-frames which suppress the high range such as edges and outlines where blurring phenomenon is easily visible between the high range enhancing sub-frames, blurring is decreased and influences by insertion of the high range suppressing sub-frames on the picture quality can be compensated by the high range enhancing sub-frames, and an image without decrease in brightness or contract can be displayed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
