<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem for user's uncertainty of whether a contract is implemented, user's consumer electric products is checked from a service center through a network according to the contract. <P>SOLUTION: A workstation 301 in a service center is connected with network compliant consumer electric products 20 such as a refrigerator 201, a washing machine 202, a microwave oven 203, an air conditioner 204 and a lighting fixture 205 installed within a household 2. A pass word and a signal for requesting operational information is transmitted to the consumer electric products from the workstation 301 with a certain interval, and the operational information stored in the consumer electric products 20 is read. A periodical check for the consumer electric products is implemented by comparing the operational information with a standard value stored in a product data 303.
