<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction of contrast of display in a liquid crystal device by preventing leakage of light transmitted through a region between sub pixels adjacent to each other into sub pixel regions. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal has first and second light transmissive substrates 7a and 8a opposed to each other, a liquid crystal layer 12 interposed between the substrates 7a and 8a, a plurality of sub pixels D which are two-dimensionally arranged in two-dimensional regions of the substrates 7a and 8a and constitute an effective display region, light reflection films 24 provided in individual sub pixels D on the surface on the liquid crystal layer 12 side of the substrate 7a, light shielding films 42 provided between the sub pixels adjacent to each other on the substrate 8a, an illumination device provided on the side opposite to the substrate 8a of the substrate 7a and projecting parts 38A to be condensing means provided in positions opposed to the light shielding films 42 on the substrate 7a and condensing light emitted from the illumination device toward the light shielding films 42. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
