METHOD FOR TREATING ASBESTOS-CONTAINING INORGANIC WASTE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste materials of asbestos-containing inorganic materials which have been used in extensive fields including fields of building materials and of civil engineering by converting and recycling them into cement without forming asbestos dust.

SOLUTION: The method for treating an asbestos-containing inorganic waste material comprises heat-treating the waste material by throwing it into a cement production kiln 1 together with cement raw materials to simultaneously effect the conversion of the asbestos in the waste material into harmless minerals and the conversion of it into cement, wherein the method includes the step of subjecting the waste gas leaving the cement production kiln 1 to heating at 950°C or higher for 1 sec or longer.
