PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a plurality of sheets of classified pictures as a list by using a limited display area effectively. SOLUTION: A plurality of images having photography date and time information are read and, on the basis of the information, they are classified into groups of "month of photography". Then, the number of images in every classified group is counted. Moreover, it is determined whether or not the counted number of images exceeds the defined number of images. Images classified into each group and determined not to exceed the defined number of images are accumulated in a display queue as they are for "every month of photography". Images classified into each group determined to exceed the defined number of images are further classified into groups of "date of photography" and accumulated in a display queue for "every date of photography". A monitor displays a list of images which are classified into groups of either "month of photography" or "date of photography" and accumulated in the display queues. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
