PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic supervision unit capable of detecting a vehicle stopped on a road at low cost. SOLUTION: By means of detecting devices such as cameras mounted on the vehicles, the number of other vehicles in the periphery of the vehicle is detected and transmitted. On receipt thereof, the traffic supervision unit generates traffic information, after processing the number of other vehicles obtained from a plurality of vehicles on the basis of each geographical area. As the traffic information, traffic jam information is included for example. As the detecting devices, if the cameras mounted on general vehicles for supporting safety driving are utilized instead of special probe cars, wide range of information can be collected from the general vehicles, and thus, highly accurate traffic information can be obtained at low cost.
