PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a recording method which can sufficiently demonstrate the functions of an imparting section and a recording section when the carrying speed of a recording medium differs in the imparting section of a processing liquid and the recording section for an image. SOLUTION: An applying mechanism 120 imparts the processing liquid 110 to the recording medium by being accompanied by the carrying of the recording medium. A recording head 1 records an image to the recording medium after the processing liquid has been imparted. By pressing the recording medium to which the processing liquid has been imparted to a paper feeding roller 23, a slack section is temporarily formed on the recording medium.
