An anti-fungal and anti-bacterial composition is provided to remove fungi and bacteria occurring on the surface of articles caused by water leakage or moisture for a long period of time by coating or containing the composition to the articles. An anti-fungal and anti-bacterial composition comprises 100 parts by weight of copper compounds and 40-80 parts by weight of copper metals, wherein the copper compound is copper nitrate, copper sulfate or a mixture thereof and the composition is formulated as powder or pellet coated by a water-soluble polymer selected from polyethylene oxide, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, cellulose resin, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, water-soluble epoxy resin, water-soluble silicon resin and water-soluble urethane resin. A method for preparing the anti-fungal and anti-bacterial composition comprises the steps of: (a) mixing copper compound, copper metals or its mixture with water-soluble polymer; (b) extruding, drying and cutting the mixture to prepare a pellet; (c) coating the pellet with water-soluble polymer solution; and (d) mixing the coated pellet with powder containing copper compounds and copper metals. |
