摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for catalytically producing a 5-13C linear andβ-alkyl branched aliphatic carboxylic acid by liquid phase oxidation with oxygen or an oxygen-mixed gas from corresponding aldehydes at 20-100°C. SOLUTION: The method uses a specific catalytic system. The catalytic system contains an alkali metal carboxylate, an alkaline earth metal carboxylate or a mixture thereof in an amount of 0.5-5 mmol each in terms of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal based on 1 mol aldehyde in which the catalytic system is used, and a group 4-12 metal in the elemental periodic table, cerium or lanthanum in an amount of 0.05-5.0 ppm based on the used aldehyde or a metal compound of these metals or a mixture of these metals and/or metal compounds in am amount corresponding thereto, and preferably the catalytic system is a reaction product of the aldehyde oxidation reaction.
