PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus with a drive assist function for detecting and reporting the execution of sudden accelerating and decelerating operations and capable of reporting the execution of sudden accelerating and decelerating operations at appropriate timings. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus 10 includes a route search part 112; a sensor part 15 for detecting the traveling state of a vehicle; a GPS reception part 12 for locating a current location; a map storage part 13; output means 14 and 19; an acceleration determination part 111; a sudden acceleration and deceleration information storage part 18; and a report output control part 113. The acceleration determination part 111 compares the acceleration computed on the basis of output of the sensor part 15 or the GPS reception part 12 with a prescribed threshold, detects the execution of sudden accelerating and decelerating operations, and stores sudden acceleration and deceleration information in the sudden acceleration and deceleration information storage part 18. The report output control part 113 restricts report output of the sudden acceleration and deceleration information when the vehicle is moving under prescribed conditions on the basis of both information on the current location located by the GPS reception part 12 and map information acquired from the map storage part 13 on the basis of the current location.
