PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a magneto-striction type torque sensor with excellent mass production property facilitating control of a temperature at a step for performing heat treatment again so as not to generate ununiformness of magnetic characteristic of a magneto-striction film, and an electric power steering device mounted with the magneto-striction type torque sensor manufactured by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the magneto-striction type torque sensor comprises a step (S11) for providing a pinion 13 for transmitting drive force to a steering shaft 12b; a step (S12) for performing hardening of the steering shaft; a step (S13) for giving the magneto-striction films 20u, 20d to the steering shaft; steps (S14, S15) for performing heat treatment in the state that predetermined twisting torque is applied to the steering shaft 12b; steps (S16, S17) for providing magnetic anisotropy on the magneto-striction film by releasing the twisting torque; a step (S18) for performing heat treatment of a rotation shaft again; and a step (S19) for arranging a multiple winding coil for detecting variation of the magneto-striction characteristic on a periphery of the magneto-striction film.
