PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air control system which controls the firmness of a fluid supported mattress (14) of a bed assembly (10) to minimize the transmission of motor noise to the environment nearby. SOLUTION: This control system has a motorized fluid pump, a control unit for operating the pump to adjust the firmness of an air mattress, a handheld remote control unit for actuating the control unit, and a transceiver system for communicating information signals between the handheld unit and the control unit. This system provides independent controls of both of the two air bags in the air mattress having two air bags from one unit and can set the firmness of each air bag of the mattress to a desired value by a user.
