PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting part for a position sensor capable of enhancing linearity of an impedance of a detecting coil with respect to a displacement of a core, and the position sensor. SOLUTION: This detecting part 1 for the position sensor is provided with the hollow detecting coil L, and the core 2 which is made of a magnetic metal and is set freely for rising and setting inside the detecting coil L to be relatively displaced along a center axis direction of the detecting coil L with respect to the detecting coil L. The core 2 is formed into a cylindrical shape, and an opening part 2a is formed to communicate an inside and an outside of the core 2, in a prescribed portion on a side face in a portion P of the core 2 positioned inside the detecting coil L, under the condition where the core 2 gets mostly into the detecting coil L within a movable range of the core 2.
