A battery system includes a plurality of sleeves 30. Each of the plurality of sleeves is coupled to another of the plurality of sleeves. Some of the sleeves include a battery cell. The sleeves are configured to be coupled together in a plurality of different configurations, where a measurement taken around the perimeter of the coupled sleeves differs for each of the configurations.
