Production of a fiber-reinforced component involves: (a) forming a first stack (20) of several fibrous material layers (12), adding hardenable matrix material and at least partially hardening, after and/or during compaction of the stack; (b) stacking and compacting several layers of the partially hardened first stacks (24) to form a second stack; and (c) uniting a stack (24) as formed in step (a) with an overlying stack as formed in step (b). An independent claim is included for a variant of the process, involving: (a) forming a first stack of several prepreg layers, compacting and at least partially hardening; (b) stacking and compacting several layers of the partially hardened first stacks to form a second stack; and (c) uniting a stack as formed in step (a) with an overlying stack as formed in step (b).
