An apparatus for correcting a shaken image is provided to perform a capturing operation immediately after a main power source is turned on although an operation for correcting a shaken image is not accurately executed. A photometric switch(12a) is used to perform a photometric operation. A release switch(13a) is used to perform an image capturing operation. When it is determined that the first lapse time has not lapsed the first time from a time point when a main power source was turned on or when it is determined that the second lapse time has not lapsed the second time from a time point when the photometric switch was turned on for a photometric operation, a controller executes an image capturing operation without executing shaken image correction when the release switch is set to be on.
