<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity by minimizing poor appearances and poor shapes while stabilizing molding conditions by optimizing clay flow-characteristics in honeycomb structure extrusion. <P>SOLUTION: Clay is composed so that a relation between a shearing stress and a shearing speed by a capillary rehometer is in a region (A) specified by (1) an (a) point that the shearing speed is 500 s<SP>-1</SP>and a (b) point that the shearing speed is 4,000 s<SP>-1</SP>when the shearing stress is 5×10<SP>5</SP>Pa and (2) a (c) point that the sheering speed is 1000s<SP>-1</SP>and a (d) point that the shearing speed is 8,000 s<SP>-1</SP>when the shearing stress is 6×10<SP>5</SP>Pa. It is possible to extrude a honeycomb structure while making fluidity compatible with shape-retaining properties by using the clay. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
