<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlamp optical module having an elliptical-type reflector, capable of improving the recovery efficiency of rays radiated from a light source, which can be mounted easily. <P>SOLUTION: The headlamp optical module for an automobile comprising, disposed along an optical axis: the elliptical-type reflector R with a light source E placed in the vicinity of a first focal point F1; a converging lens L, placed in front of the reflector R and having a focal point FL located in the vicinity of a second focal point F2 of the reflector R; and a light recovery means A that is suitable for collecting a portion of flux from the source and for sending it forward. An ellipsoid-type mirror 6 is provided at a front part, in an upper portion of the module, with this ellipsoid-type mirror focusing a portion of the rays that issue from the source E to the vicinity of a second focal point μ<SB>2</SB>located at a front part of the optical module, at a location lower than the focal point FL of the lens L; and the light recovery means A has an input face 7, in the vicinity of the second focal point μ<SB>2</SB>of the ellipsoid-type mirror 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
