PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply constitute a height adjusting device which can adjust lengths of legs of a table or a chair and can surely maintain the adjusted state by using a small number of parts, and to facilitate the adjustment of the height. SOLUTION: An adjuster 20 is fixed to a mounting bolt 26a for mounting a caster 14 to a leg seat 8, and a braking part 20b is projected upward from an operating part 20a of the adjuster 20. Since a projection 20f disposed to the braking part 20b abuts on a first outer wall face 42c and an oscillation part 20d is deformed so as to urge the first outer wall face 42c by the oscillation part 20d and thereby to generate friction resistance between the projection 20f and the first outer wall face 42c, the loosening of the adjuster 20 is prevented.
