PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of surely transferring a medium to be printed with width narrower than that of conventional one and carrying out high-quality printing. SOLUTION: The end fringe portion of a reference position 72 side of a head support member 32 is pushed down in a lower side direction by a platen roller 26 an extending out portion 32A moves in a lower side direction and comes into contact with the lower end portion in a through-hole 73A, because the platen gear 79 moves in a lower side direction by the tangential force P7 of a driving gear 80. Thereafter, the platen gear 79 further moves in a lower side direction thereby the end fringe portion of the reference position 72 side or the roller shaft 26A moves in a lower side direction and comes into contact with the lower end portion in the bearing hole 77A. In this case, the end fringe portion of the opposite side relative to the reference position 72 of the head support member 32 is turned in a lower side direction around the contact portion of the extending out portion 32A of the head support member 32 and the through-hole 73A, so that the inclination of the head support member 32 is reduced as well as the rotational load of the platen roller 26.
