The present invention generally relates to a fastening assembly including a fastening device for fastening a component onto a support. The fastening device comprises a mounting section which is securable into a fixed position relative to the support; at least two resilient fastening fingers extending from the mounting section. The at least two fastening fingers abut and engage the component in at least two spaced apart locations. Each finger exerts a clamping force thereby clamping the component in a fixed position on the support. In an exemplary application, the fastening device is used to clamp a component within a light fixture.
