PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized photodetector having a simple device constitution. SOLUTION: When light enters antenna layers 11a, 11b, 11c of the photodetector 1, the light having a specific wavelength component included in the incident light is coupled with surface plasmon in the antenna layers 11a, 11b, 11c, to thereby generate surface plasmon resonance. Hereby, near field light is output from through holes 13 in the antenna layers 11a, 11b, 11c. The near field light output from each through hole 13 reaches a light absorption layer 4 through light receiving surfaces 4a, 4b, 4c. The light absorption layer 4 generates the charge of the quantity corresponding to the light receiving quantity. Since period intervalsΛa,Λb,Λc of a projection part 12 in the antenna layers 11a, 11b, 11c are different respectively, each wavelength component of the light coupled with the surface plasmon is different relative to each of the antenna layers 11a, 11b, 11c.
