The control-, decor- or display part for the equipment of automobiles, consists of substrate (3) out of a non-transparent or non-translucent injection moldable plastic that has a first outer surface and a second outer surface lying opposite to the first outer surface, on which a light impermeable decor layer (2) is formed. In the desired installation position the first outer surfaces faces a user or an observer and the second outer layer is illuminated by a light source. The decor layer is removed in discrete areas by laser. The removed areas (7) form symbols or labels. The control-, decor- or display part for the equipment of automobiles, consists of substrate (3) out of a non-transparent or non-translucent injection moldable plastic that has a first outer surface and a second outer surface lying opposite to the first outer surface, on which a light impermeable decor layer (2) is formed. In the desired installation position the first outer surfaces faces a user or an observer and the second outer layer is illuminated by a light source. The decor layer is removed in discrete areas by laser. The removed areas (7) forms symbols or labels, and that the substrate consists of depressions (4), recesses and elevations (5) or material swellings on the second outer layer in an area, which is opposite to the removed areas of the decor layer. The depressions are built out of molded grooves and the elevations are built out of molded ribs. The depressions or the elevations have a depth or a height, which is smaller than half of the thickness of the substrate. The substrate on the second outer layer in the area, with regard to its material strength is reduced in such a manner, that the areas can be illuminated through the light source. The recesses are arranged in the region of the removed areas of the of the decor layer, which is filled with a translucent or a transparent plastic over a part of its height and over its total cross-section. The areas, which are filled up with a translucent or a transparent plastic material, have lower height or a higher height than the thickness of the substrate. An independent claim is included for a method for producing control-, decor- or display part for the equipment of automobiles.
