A barometric altimeter including a temperature compensation device is provided to allow a user to use it simply and provide an accurate altitude value by simplifying the setting of the barometer altimeter without the requirement of a remarkable storage capacity. A barometric altimeter includes a pressure sensor(14), a calculation unit(16), a time measuring unit(18), and a correction circuit(32). The calculation unit(16) determines an altitude value by using the function of the pressure measured by the pressure sensor(14) and the function of a reference temperature corresponding to a measured temperature of an air mass on a sea surface temperature. The time measuring unit(18) provides the data of a calendar. The correction circuit(32) selects a predetermined temperature value among a series of values stored in a database of the barometric altimeter by using the function of dates and the function of a predetermined climate value. The climate value is selected among a predetermined temperature, a mediterranean value, an arid value, a tropical value, and a polar value.
