A gear pump (100) suitable for feeding a high pressure and high viscosity fluid such as a molten resin, installed in a casing (1), and capable of feeding the fluid from a suction port (11) side to a discharge port (12) side by the rotation of gears (2) and (3) formed in a pair and meshing with each other. The gears (2) and (3) are formed in double helical gears with one-point continuous contact tooth profile and the ratios of the outer diameters D to the tooth widths B of the gears (2) and (3) are set to 1.1 to 1.15. When the ratio D/B is equal to or lower than 1.1, a bearing load is excessively increased and a bearing may be damaged. Therefore, the gear pump becomes unsuitable for feeding the molten resin. On the other hand, when the ratio D/B surpasses 1.15, a mechanical efficiency is lowered and, accordingly, the total efficiency is lowered according to an increase in the overall size of the pump.
