<p>An interactive system (10) for detailing a complex entity comprising a plurality of different user-selectable components is described. The system comprises: a data store (20) arranged to store a plurality of technical data specifications (26,28), each technical data specification relating to one of the plurality of components and comprising a plurality of user-specifiable features of that component; presentation means (12,16) for presenting one the plurality of data specifications (26,28) to a user through a graphical user interface; selecting means (16) for selecting one of the plurality of components, the selecting means (16) being arranged to enable the user to select iteratively features of a component to match a desired requirement for the complex multi-part entity; and compatibility checking means (18, 30) arranged to check the compatibility of each new selectable feature with a previously selected feature and to control the operation of the selecting means (16) to ensure that compatible selectable features are made available to the user for selection in use.
