Preparation of olefin polymer comprises (co)polymerization of ethylene or of ethylene with up to 10 wt.%, based on the total amount of monomers, of l-olefin in suspension, in solution or in the gas phase, at 20-120[deg]C and 0.2-6 MPa in the presence of a catalyst comprising the reaction product of a magnesium alkoxide with a tetravalent transition metal compound, where a magnesium alkoxide suspended or dispersed as gel in an inert solvent, is reacted with tetravalent transition metal compound at 20-140[deg]C and the reaction product is then after-treated thermally at 90-200[deg]C for 10-180 minutes. Preparation of olefin polymer comprises (co)polymerization of ethylene or of ethylene with up to 10 wt.%, based on the total amount of monomers, of a l-olefin of formula R-CH=CH2, in suspension, in solution or in the gas phase, at 20-120[deg]C and 0.2-6 MPa in the presence of a catalyst comprising the reaction product of a magnesium alkoxide with a tetravalent transition metal compound, where a magnesium alkoxide of formula Mg(OR1>)(OR2>), suspended or dispersed as gel in an inert solvent, is reacted with a tetravalent transition metal compound of formula MlXm(OR4>)4-m, at 20-140[deg]C and the reaction product is then after-treated thermally at 90-200[deg]C for 10-180 minutes. R : 1-12C alkyl; R1>,R2>1-20C alkyl radical or radical (CH2)nOR3>; R3>1-4C alkyl radical; n : 2-6; M : Ti, Zr or Hf; R4>1-9C alkyl radical; X : halo; m : 0-4. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an ethylene polymer prepared by the process; and (2) use of an ethylene polymer for producing films by film blowing process, for producing small and large hollow bodies by blow molding process and for producing pipes by extrusion process. |
