The device has a data processing unit (4) of assigning detected spatial positions of a patient or a patient body part to relative points of an acquired patient image data set. A laser distance meter (6) transfers distance data for measured points to the data processing unit. A localizing device e.g. stereoscopic camera unit, detects spatial positions of the meter, where the meter freely moves to register the specific point. The data processing unit ascertains a spatial position of a point of interest based on a measured distance from the distance measuring device to the point of interest. An independent claim is also included for a method for medical registration of patients and patient parts with respect to relative points of an acquired patient image data set. |
