A time out mat for providing a time out period for a child comprises a flexible sheet 1, a sensor for detecting and signaling whether a child is on the sheet and a control section 3. The control section has a timer, a control means for operating the timer in response to signals received from the sensor and an input means by which a user may input or select a desired duration for a time out period. A signaling means 6 for indicating to a user when a desired time out period has elapsed is provided and may be audible or visual, with one or more lights. An LCD may be provided. The sensor may be activated by pressure or movement. |
