<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric connector of a non-pinching type doing away with a pinching retention mechanism, without abrasion of contacts even with repeated fitting-in operations, and doing away with soldering at assembly. <P>SOLUTION: Contacts 5 are arranged at a side in contact with pads 6a, 6b on columnar bodies 4 made of volume compression elastic insulating material held in alignment in parallel in accordance with alignment intervals of the pads 6a, 6b of substrates 8a, 8b to form an intermediate connecting body 1. Protrusions 7a made of non-elastic insulating bodies in a shape with swollen tips are erected between the parallel aligned pads 6a on the substrate 8a to form a lower substrate 2 made to retain the columnar bodies 4 between the protrusions 7a, and likewise, an upper substrate 3 is formed. The protrusions 7a, 7b of the lower substrate 2 and the upper substrate 3 are displaced in an axis direction of the columnar bodies so as not to come in contact with each other.
