An inverter transformer for lighting multiple discharge lamps is provided which has a plurality of output voltages including reversed polarity output voltages while ensuring a reliable insulation performance, and which is produced in a small size and at a low cost. An inverter transformer (1) includes a magnetic core assembly (3), and a plurality of bobbins (5A to 5D) each having a primary winding (6) and a secondary winding (7) wound therearound. Adjacent two bobbins of the bobbins (5A to 5D) constitute either a first bobbin pair (5A+5B /5C+5D) which are provided with respective secondary windings (7) at which output voltages having their polarities reversed from each other are induced, or a second bobbin pair (5B+5C). An insulation distance setting means (12A and 12B) are provided between the two bobbins (5A and 5B / 5C and 5D) so that the distance between the secondary windings (7) disposed at the two bobbins (5A and 5B / 5C and 5D) of the first bobbin pair (5A+5B / 5C+5D) is larger than the distance between the secondary windings (7) disposed at the two bobbins (5B and 5C) of the second bobbin pair (5B+5C).
