In a method for attaching a first casting core (120) to a second casting core (122), a first portion (136) of the first casting core (120) is brought into engagement or close proximity with a second portion (138) of the second casting core (122). The first and second portions are dipped in a ceramic slurry (150) to form a coating around the first and second portions (136,138). The coating is hardened to form a joint between the first and second portions (136,138).
