Use of o-phenylphenol and its sodium- and/or potassium salts, is claimed for the protection of gypsum-building slab, comprising a gypsum kernel that is surrounded with paper layers or carton cover layers, against attack and/or destruction by microorganisms. An independent claim is included for an antimicrobially equipped gypsum-building slab comprising the gypsum kernel that is surrounded with paper layers or carton cover layers, and biocide.
