A method for processing an image of an image display apparatus is provided to down a quantization grade of an associated part when the temperature of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel is higher than a predetermined temperature and quantize the downed part, thereby maintaining regular images even through the LCD panel is exposed by heat or humidity for a long time. A method for processing an image of an image display apparatus comprises the following steps of: measuring surface temperature of a polarized light film and determining whether the surface temperature of the polarized light film is higher than a predetermined temperature(S10,S20); applying a compensating value according to a position of a panel when the measured surface temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature and an inputted image signal is quantized(S30); and quantizing the image signal according to the applied compensating value and performing image processes(S40).
