An image correction circuit, an image correction method, and an image display are provided to perform image correction of input image data in a low brightness area on the basis of a low brightness area input/output characteristic curve, thereby effectively improving contrast without displaying non-natural images even through histogram distribution has distribution peaks in an image frame. An image correction circuit includes a brightness distribution acquiring unit(21), a determining unit(24), and a correcting executing unit(31). The brightness distribution acquiring unit acquires black side middle brightness. The determining unit determines a low brightness area input/output characteristic curve on the basis of the acquired black side middle brightness distribution. The correcting executing unit performs correction of input image data with a lower brightness than reference brightness on the basis of the determined low brightness area input/output characteristic curve.
