A transmitting/receiving system and a data processing method are provided to receive both MPEG data and supplementary data. Input data in which the first and second service data are multiplexed is demodulated. Channel equalization is performed on the demodulated data. Deinterleaving is performed on the channel-equalized data. The first error correction decoding is performed on the deinterleaved data to correct an error of the deinterleaved data. The first error-correction decoded data is demultiplexed into the fist and second service data. The second error correction decoding is performed on the separated first service data to correct an error of the first service data.
